- To promote the
health and social benefits of tennis as a lifetime sport.

MVSRC
History
In 1969,
Virginia Glass, Payton Cook, and John Leggett founded the Mountain View
Tennis Club, then located at Ocean View Park with only two tennis courts.
In 1975, the club relocated to the Martin Luther King Jr. Park, where
seven courts were built with HUD funding.
From the beginning, the main focus of the club has been junior development
- building tennis skills and character among children for whom tennis
was a new sport. We are proud of the many youngsters who have attended
the weekly free tennis clinics, graduated to National Junior Tennis League,
Penn League, and finally individual competition which has led to college
scholarships and a firm place among society's "Excellent Citizens".
Most
recently in 2006, the Mountain View Sports and Racquet Club was reorganized
into two separate entities. They are: The Mountain View Sports and Racquet
Club, and The Mountain View Sports and Racquet Association.
The Mountain
View Sports and Racquet Club is the newly formed charitable organization.
The club is responsible for the care and maintenance of the Martin Luther
King Jr. Park tennis courts, and is the prime fund-raiser for the advancement
of junior development. MVSRC is an IRS certified 501 (c) 3 charitable
organization. Contributions are tax-deductible.
MVSRC
